Rush for travel as China lifts quarantine
In China, there has been a rush for visas and trips abroad since Beijing announced on Monday that on January 8, 2023, it will remove the quarantine requirement for entry, reports TT.
Web searches for air travel abroad skyrocketed after the announcement, state media reports.
Searches on the Tongcheng travel platform increased by 850 percent and questions regarding various visas increased tenfold. Macau, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Korea are the most sought after destinations.
The requirement has been in place since the covid-19 pandemic broke out almost three years ago.

Man found dead on ship – “unclear circumstances”
A crew member was found dead on a foreign-flagged cargo ship. The ship was anchored outside Karlshamn, and the police came aboard early this morning.
– It is a man, a foreign citizen, says Kim Hild at the Blekinge police region.
But the circumstances surrounding the death are unclear. The police do not know how the man died and have therefore drawn up a report of murder.
– There is nothing concrete that makes us lean towards it, but when we cannot establish natural causes of death, we need to investigate it as suspected murder.
Technicians are on their way to the ship.
Two trucks in collision on E20
Two trucks have collided with each other on the E20 north of Kumla during the morning.
The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. at the Ekeby intersection.
The vehicles are across the road and the road will be completely closed during the rescue work, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
Double robbery: People threatened their car with weapons
During the night, the police searched for at least three perpetrators after two car robberies in the Stockholm area during the night to Tuesday.
Two drivers were robbed of their cars within the space of ten minutes.
The first robbery occurred in Vårby at 01.10, where at least two unknown perpetrators have threatened to take a car. The crime victim was supposed to park his car in a garage when the crime occurred, according to information to Aftonbladet.
One of the people had a weapon and also tried to take the victim’s jewelery and mobile phone.
The second robbery took place in Vårberg – a driver was then robbed in his car.
At least three perpetrators used a gun-like object.
– Masked people have threatened them with the cars. The places are close to each other, so we will look at any possible connection and similarities between the crimes, says Towe Hägg, the police’s spokesperson.
The police have opened a preliminary investigation regarding aggravated possession of means of transportation, aggravated weapons offense and attempted robbery.
No one has been arrested.
Lorry drove into police and emergency services on E4
A truck driver is suspected of several crimes after driving into police and rescue vehicles at an accident scene on the E4 outside Jönköping last night.
The truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, drug offenses and gross negligence in traffic, reports P4 Jönköping.
No one was injured in the accident.
Three cars have collided in Borås
Police, emergency services and ambulance have been alerted to Trandared in Borås where three cars have collided.
There are currently no reports of injuries.
Three to hospital after suspected arson
The police have started a preliminary investigation into arson after the fire in Henriksdal in Nacka municipality on Boxing Day evening.
The heavy fire started in a garage and damaged two apartments in a residential building in the Henriksdalsringen area.
Three people were taken to hospital, one of them with serious injuries.
The fire scene will be cordoned off until the police are on the scene.

Woman hit by car – taken to hospital
The police, emergency services and ambulance were alerted to the accident at 05.30.
– It is a person who has been hit by a car, says Patrik Hedlund, alarm and line operator at the greater Gothenburg rescue service to GP.
The person hit, a woman, has been taken to hospital with suspected fractures.
House fire in Höör
The police and emergency services were alerted to a house fire in Höör shortly after 01:00 on Tuesday night.
It was a fully developed fire, reports the police.
No injuries have been reported. An arson report has been filed.
Ships with power plants can supply Ukraine with electricity
Power networks and large parts of Ukraine’s electricity supply have been damaged by Russian attacks.
More than 1.5 million people were without electricity in the Odessa region earlier in December after a Russian drone attack in southern Ukraine, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
But now floating ship power plants must secure parts of the electricity supply, reports Swedens radio.
It is a Turkish company that wants to send power vessels to the coast outside Ukraine. The idea is to supply up to one million households and businesses with electricity, according to the radio channel.
Blixthalka – truck overturned on E18
The sleet made it difficult for traffic during the night towards Tuesday. A lorry has overturned on the E18 outside Kristinehamn and in Jönköping a lorry collided with police and emergency services during work at an accident scene, TT reports.
At half past two on the night of Tuesday, a truck overturned on the E18 outside Kristinehamn.
The road is closed to the east and the Swedish Transport Administration expects a very large impact until ten o’clock.
Kim Jong Un: Our power has increased
The ruling Workers’ Party of North Korea opened its congress on Monday with a speech by leader Kim Jong Un.
According to TT, he said, among other things, that North Korea’s political, military and economic power has increased “remarkably” – despite the difficulties and challenges of the past year.

Hi Nadire! It is true that many people have colds now. The Public Health Authority writes on its website that “several systems show that many people in the country are sick with respiratory symptoms or fever”.
The Swedish Public Health Agency explains that this may be due to the increasing spread of influenza as well as covid-19 and RSV.
