UK strikes continue – travel chaos feared

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The widespread strikes in the UK continue to grow and risk leading to flight and train chaos ahead of the Christmas holiday.

The nurses are on strike since last Tuesday, when a large-scale demonstration was also carried out. Thousands of non-urgent care visits and treatments have had to be cancelled. The following day, ambulance drivers also went on strike.

During Friday, the conflict in the Christian country grew further when, among other things, railway workers and border inspectors at London’s major airports Heathrow and Gatwick chose to strike. The military has been deployed and is currently manning the airports’ border control, but travelers are warned that this could lead to major problems for those going out and traveling during the long weekend.

The union has issued an ultimatum on negotiations – otherwise new strikes will be announced in January. But the conservative government is sticking to a bid previously made and refusing to negotiate with its counterparts on wages and working conditions.
