Over 200 people have signed an open letter to leading TV channels and production companies. There, personnel in television production raise the alarm about lousy working conditions, such as long working days, too little sleep and a culture of silence where employees hesitate to raise the alarm.
– Every week there are people I know who leave the industry. We see a fairly clear age pyramid that it is fairly young and recently graduated 21-year-olds who are given fairly heavy positions as production and project managers today. It’s easier to take advantage of young people, says Daniel Rosenqvist, sound engineer.
Another point in the open letter deals with a lack of security and a lack of cooperation with protection agents.
– We go up with serious technology, TV cameras and sound equipment and ride cable cars with them, which no one had talked to us about before. I also see a cameraman disconnect completely to get a better picture, ten meters up in the air, says Ro
As there are more streaming services, TV productions in Sweden are also increasing and it is a popular industry that many people want to work with, but despite that, there is a downside and staff in the TV industry now want the channels to make clearer demands on the production companies.
