In the past, it has been a task for the adult children to take care of their aging parents. But in today’s society, children are not enough.

– I am here for my grandmother both day and night. If I need to go out, she sits and watches TV, says Feng Wei.

Feng Wei has remained in the parental home where she grew up. From the beginning, it was her grandmother who looked after her – now it’s the other way around.

In just 20 years, it is estimated that nearly 30 percent of China’s population will be over 60 years of age. In order to meet the needs, they are now trying to review the welfare systems, which until now have been based on families being able to support.
