Sharing Netflix passwords: Streaming service puts a stop to account sharing in 2023
It was only a matter of time before Netflix put a stop to password sharing. In the past few weeks and months there have been many signs that this development is coming our way. At the beginning of 2023, the streaming service will be serious. Over 100 million users are said to be affected by the new regulation.
For now, account sharing will only be banned in the US. However, it can be assumed that Netflix will roll out its new model worldwide over the course of the next year. That’s one of the reasons why stagnant growth of the streaming service, for which paying subscribers are still the most valuable asset.
If you want to log into someone else’s account in the future, you will have to pay extra. Recently, an add-on was tested for a $3 surcharge allowed to share passwords. Here, the main account holder provides a confirmation code so that people from other households can log in.
