Illegal settlement on the rise: “Heartbreaking in many ways”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

More and more people live in huts and in old caravans on other people’s land – so-called illegal settlement.

If someone or someone has taken possession of a property without permission, the owner can request a so-called special handout and get an authority decision that makes it possible to have buildings and people removed.

The problems exist all over the country, but the Stockholm area accounts for the majority.

TV4 Nyheterna has visited a residence like this in Skellefteå together with the building permit manager Enar Nordvik.

– This is, of course, heartbreaking in many ways in these contexts. But we then act strictly as an authority, says Nordvik.
