Sharp decline in polar bears
It is above all females and young that have declined sharply Photo: Jonathan Hayward
A government survey in Canada shows that the number of polar bears is decreasing sharply in the western part of Hudson Bay, where, among other things, the city of Churchill – known as the “polar bear capital of the world” is located, TT reports.
In total, the survey estimates that there are 618 polar bears in the area, a decrease from 842 polar bears five years ago. Above all, female bears and cubs have declined sharply.
The decline is believed to be due to climate change, hunting and that the polar bears may have moved to other areas.

More discount stores in the future
Sweden will have more and more discount stores for food in the future, the Trade Research Institute (HUI) believes, reports Swedens radio.
It is the sharply rising food prices that are causing more people to go to discount stores, something that is predicted to continue if the price levels hold.
– It’s going well for those who have a low-price concept, that’s what customers are drawn to right now, says Joakim Wirén, analyst at HUI to Ekot.
Sweden has a low proportion of discount stores according to HUI, which only classifies 13 percent of stores as discount. This can be compared with Norway, where the corresponding figure is 68 percent.

Read that they were convicted of the hairdresser’s murder (execution) in Gothenburg.
Why aren’t both sentenced to life in prison?
Is it because they were young when the crime happened?
Is this the District Court’s judgment, and will it be appealed?
Hasse Gustafsson
Hey! The penalty value is assessed to be life imprisonment for the murder. However, the court has decided that the shooter was 18 when the murder was committed, which thus led to a lighter sentence.
The other person is convicted of aiding and abetting.
The penalty value for his act is considered lower than for the two shooters, but the assessment is still that it is equivalent to life imprisonment. There, too, age is taken into account, according to GP.
It is the district court’s verdict and the newspaper writes that it will be appealed.
