Norwegian skiing icon Petter Northug will celebrate Christmas in Switzerland this year, together with little brother Even Northug.
And as usual, Petter Northug is not slow to send acidic passes against Sweden.
Now he has revealed what little brother will get for Christmas – and it is unsurprisingly a gift with a Swedish connection.
In 2015, the Northug brothers celebrated Christmas in the Swiss Alps for the first time. Peter Northug was then preparing for the Tour de Ski, and a 20-year-old Even Northug was then there to make his very first high-altitude camp. That time, however, the Christmas celebration did not turn out exactly as the brothers had imagined.
Nightmare Christmas
The hotel owners suddenly announced that the hotel would be closed on Christmas Eve. However, the brothers received a key to the hotel, but there was no direct Christmas dinner. The only things available were water and grain.
– It was completely insane. It was good that I was so old that Save the Children didn’t get involved, says Even Northug to Norwegian VG.
– I hope it will be better this year, because it was a boring Christmas seven years ago.

Petter Northug is this time in Switzerland to prepare for his venture into the Ski Classics, and this year the 36-year-old seems more confident that the hotel will keep its doors open on Christmas Eve.

Northug’s Christmas Gift Mock
For younger brother Even Northug, his sights are set on the WC in Planica, which starts in February, and as a Christmas present the 27-year-old can expect just WC inspiration. Not entirely unexpectedly, older brother Petter has prepared a Christmas present with the aim of not only getting his brother started, but also to push for Sweden.
– I have made a DVD of the sprint final from Falun 2015, says Petter Northug to the Norwegian newspaper.

We remember the sprint final in Falun 2015 since the Norwegian took home the victory, which meant his first individual sprint gold in his career. In total, during the championship, he took home four WC gold medals.
