In Destiny 2 there has been a dungeon called “Pillar of the Warden” since Season 19. In addition to a lot of Vex, there is also a real cowboy feeling when playing in the Martian desert. However, keepers have now found that an armor item from the activity drops almost less often than some raid exotics. If you want to look like a gunslinger with it, you have to be patient.
Which item is it about? The Guardians are currently farming the new Wild West dungeon “Pillar of the Warden” in Season 19. In addition to the top loot, there are weapons and specific armor to earn there, as always.
The optically most important part of this tailor-made dungeon armor is definitely the cowboy hat and many a keeper is on the hunt for it. However, the stylish Western part for the head is probably so difficult to get that players now suspect Bungie’s intention behind it.
A mini-trailer for the dungeon shows how cool the new Wild West feeling in Destiny 2 looks:
If you want to be a real cowboy, you have to grind for a long time
Rare drop rates make players wonder: The new dungeon “Pillar of the Warden” is currently almost three weeks in the game. It is usually not a big problem for a Guardian to get all of the activity’s items at least once within this period of time. So also the coveted cowboy hat.
But it just doesn’t want to drop with many players and seems to be almost as rare as a raid exotic, for which you also have to grind for weeks.
As a result, some players are now believing that this is more than just bad luck, and that Bungie deliberately made the cowboy hat drop rates rare. This is the only way to explain the extremely low drop rates.
On reddit, the player sunder_and_flame tried to break down the exact numbers of the ominous cowboy hat drop rates. To do this, he used the statistics from light.gg and warmind.io.
This makes the new cowboy hat in Destiny 2 a really rare item, although it is ultimately just a simple legendary purple armor. Not a raid or dungeon exotic that deserves to be rare and justifies the grind.
The researching keeper also emphasizes that, to his knowledge, this is not the case in any other dungeon for non-class items and that there are similarly rare drop rates.
Obviously, cowboy hats are now such coveted items in Destiny 2 that it makes sense for Bungie to make them a rare hunt as well. Similar to what is already known from the insanely low drop rates for pets in WoW.
This small statistic is not absolute proof that this is really the case and that Bungie has actually made it harder for you. But it could at least explain why the Guardians in Destiny 2 have to wait so long for their own cowboy hat.
What about with you? Have you gotten the rare cowboy hat yet? Or are you still farming and are you affected by the extreme rarity of this item? And what do you think of Bungie apparently making the cowboy hat scarce on purpose? Please tell us in the comments.
