Think again before drinking: Beware of hypertension! Doubles the risk of death

Think again before drinking Beware of hypertension Doubles the risk

Cardiovascular diseases are the name given to diseases of the heart and the vessels in the body. It is usually caused by a buildup of fat in the veins as well as blood clots. Having high blood pressure (or hypertension) also increases your risk because of the extra pressure it puts on your organs. Cardiovascular diseases pose a great risk due to malnutrition and harmful habits.

Known triggers of cardiovascular disease are mainly lifestyle factors such as being overweight, not getting enough exercise, high cholesterol, and smoking. Studies have found that drinking coffee during the day is also risky on these diseases. The new study, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, showed that drinking two or more cups of coffee a day can double the risk of death from cardiovascular disease in people with severe high blood pressure.

Severe blood pressure was considered 160/100 millimeters of mercury (mmHg) or higher in this study. A healthy ideal blood pressure is between 90/60 mmHg and 120/80 mmHg. However, the study found that although both beverages contain caffeine, a cup of coffee and daily consumption of green tea did not increase the risk of death from cardiovascular disease on any blood pressure measurement.

Hiroyasu Iso, senior author of the study, said: “These findings may support the claim that people with severe high blood pressure should avoid excessive coffee drinking. “As people with severe hypertension are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine, the harmful effects of caffeine may outweigh its protective effects and increase the risk of death.”

May prevent heart attacks and strokes

It turns out that previous research has found that drinking a cup of coffee a day can help heart attack survivors by reducing the risk of death after a heart attack and prevent heart attacks or strokes in healthy people.

Separate studies have suggested that drinking coffee regularly may reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and certain cancers; can help control appetite; It may help reduce the risk of depression or increase alertness, but it’s unclear whether this effect is due to caffeine or something else in coffee.
