This week, the Navy has received a delivery of Torpedo 47, a wire-guided submarine hunting torpedo, the Swedish Armed Forces announces.

Work on the torpedo has been ongoing since 2016 and the result is, according to the defense, a faster weapon, with better range and better sensors.

– It is gratifying that Saab, FMV and the Armed Forces have jointly developed a torpedo adapted to Swedish needs. Today’s delivery of Torpedo 47 will give our submarines, surface ships and in the future also helicopters completely new opportunities which will thus make us and our partners really dangerous for an adversary, says Navy Commander Ewa Skoog Haslum in a video clip
