Kristersson on electricity price support and broken election promises

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It has been 100 days since the election and 63 days since the Ulf Kristersson government was formed. The government has received criticism for not acting forcefully enough to support households and businesses against the high electricity prices.

Kristersson rejects criticism from the opposition about broken election promises regarding electricity price support. Before the election, Kristersson promised that an electricity price subsidy would be in place on November 1.

– Now we have to look at what is happening now. I am fully prepared to act against the high electricity prices in northern Sweden as well, says Ulf Kristersson.

– The compensation we now give for the high prices that were last year. They were in southern Sweden, just as the previous government said. That’s why the electricity subsidy was designed for southern Sweden, says Kristersson.

Launching security packages

Today, the government also announced several proposals to stop organized crime in a so-called security agreement where, among other things, they want to investigate the possibility of anonymous witnesses.

This year, 60 fatal shootings have occurred in Sweden.

– We want to introduce Danish punishments for Swedish criminals. An investigation must find out how it can be done in the best way, says Kristersson.

He does not agree that visitation zones can undermine trust in the police.
Another proposal is to lower the age limit for open interventions within social services.

– When parents do not want to participate, then we want to lower the age limit for cases where social services can step in and force measures, says Ulf Kristersson.
