The latest next-gen console lets you enjoy the best games of the year in 4K and 60 fps, especially when you take a look at its many excellent exclusive franchises. If you want to expand your library of games as the holidays approach, or simply make a very nice gift to a loved one, here is our little guide to buying Playstation 5 games.
5. Returnal
A PS5 exclusive since its release in early 2021, Returnal is a one-of-a-kind roguelike, transporting you to a mysterious and hostile alien world. You play as Selene, a space explorer who ends up on the planet Atropos after being stuck in a time loop. The game features tense and complex gameplay, and comes as a third-person shooter with roguelike elements. Accessible to both teens and adults, it offers tough challenges and replayability that will appeal to lovers of difficulty, as well as a gripping storyline that makes it an engrossing adventure.
4. The Last of Us Part I
To stay in single-player games, why not relive one of the greatest masterpieces in video game history on PS5? The Last of Us Part I is a remake of the homonymous game released on Playstation 3 in 2013. Offering state-of-the-art graphics and a moving story, this first installment is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the adventures of Ellie and Joël, companions of misfortune in the midst of a total health apocalypse. Updated in the summer of 2022, this title is definitely a must if you have never dared to embark on what one could almost call an interactive film. Be careful though, The Last of Us Part I is undoubtedly a drama, including scenes of psychological and physical violence may be beyond the reach of the youngest.
3.FIFA 23
It’s hard to create a top games of the year without including a next-gen FIFA. Although the formula of EA Sports studios is seen and reviewed, the 2023 edition of FIFA has a special flavor. In fact, on a technical level, the innovations of the Hypermotion 2 make it an excellent football simulation, recreating complex game situations down to the millimeter. For football fans, this title is a must, knowing that it now includes both the men’s and women’s World Cups in 2022 and 2023. It is also an excellent option for playing 2, 3 or 4 players, for frenzied sofa evenings. Beware, however, of the monetization in play which could empty the pocket money of the youngest.
2. God of War: Ragnarok
It probably would have deserved to take the top spot in this ranking if Elden Ring weren’t so excellent. God of War: Ragnarök is the sequel to the famous God of War (2018) that marked PS4 users. It is a dizzying mythological fresco of depth and accuracy, acclaimed by the press, and winner of numerous awards at The Game Awards 2022, including those for best performance and best narration. You play as Kratos and his son Atreus in the heart of the Nine Kingdoms of Norse mythology, in an epic quest that will confront you with the pantheon of Norse gods to prevent the end of the world, Ragnarök. An open-world RPG that will be difficult to avoid in the coming years, and a game that we recommend to you with your eyes closed.
1.Elden Ring
A sacred monster from Japan, Elden Ring is the latest creation from From Software studios (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro). For the first time in the studio’s history, Elden Ring was created as a single-player open-world role-playing game. You will be immersed in the Underworld, a fantastic world created from scratch by the pen of George RR Martin (Game of Thrones books), ruthless and above all incredibly beautiful. Respecting the principle of From Software games, Elden Ring will not take your hand, instead throwing you into the food of the various wild beasts that inhabit its open world without any explanation. Highly difficult, Elden Ring is a challenge well worth overcoming, giving you a Dungeon and Dragon-like experience in terms of exploration, character customization, and more generally the world- building, and a story as discreet as it is poetic. Winner of the GOTY award (best game of the year), it is one of the greatest games ever made, without a doubt.
