Donald Trump’s new campaign has not been met with great enthusiasm in Republican circles. But for Lynette Villano, who goes by the name “Mrs Trump”, and several of her friends, it was something they had been waiting for a long time.
– Everyone I know who likes Trump was enthusiastic. It made it a little more exciting to be a Republican again, she says.
She has had to pay a high price for her love of Trump. Since winning the presidential election in 2016, she has had no contact with large parts of her family.
But she has no doubts that she has made the right decision to continue supporting the ex-president.
– I see no reason not to support Trump for the same reasons as twice before, she says.
This year will be the seventh Christmas she celebrates without her daughter, granddaughter and sister. Despite that, she rules out all options other than supporting Donald Trump ahead of the next presidential election.
– If they cannot distinguish between my relationship with them and choose to be upset about my political stance, it says more about them than about me, says Lynette.
