Stina Nilsson has had a very tough start to the season.
And the weekend in French Annecy became the worst imaginable when the Swede came last in the chase start.
“Thank you for keeping your fingers crossed and supporting me,” she writes herself on Instagram after the tough time.
After the weekend in French Annecy, the world elite in biathlon has now taken a well-deserved Christmas break. The last competition for the autumn was really nice with blue-yellow eyes there Elvira Öberg delivered again and won the chase start at the same time as Anna Magnusson stood for a big bang and won the very first World Cup race of his career.
Stina’s nightmare
But for Stina Nilsson it was a pure nightmare weekend. The Swede has had a very tough start to the season where neither the skiing nor the shooting has worked for the former Olympic and World Cup gold hero in cross-country skiing.

Sawing himself
Nilsson was the last skier across the finish line and not only with 58th place, she broke a new personal record for the most barriers in a biathlon competition as well. After the race, the Swede sees herself completely and is not at all satisfied with the effort in Annecy.
– I am very disappointed, I have shot so well in many competitions and this is absolutely not approved. It’s as far below approval as it can go, she tells SportExpressen.

She also has her own explanation for the big fiasco effort in France. Namely that she was too overheated already at the start of the race.
– I think I am quite focused on taking placements. I’ll take it with me into the embankment. I want so much. If you are too sharp, you almost jerk the shots away. It was a really bad job of mine on the embankment. No bad luck, it wasn’t me who took care of myself, she tells the evening newspaper.
Nilsson is supported
Also the national team coach John Luke agree that it was a weak effort by the Swedish.
– It’s not a good race by her, she can do much better, he says in a statement.

Votes have now been raised that Stina Nilsson should be pushed from the Swedish national team for the World Cup and that younger talents such as Tilda Johansson should get the chance instead. Stina herself has gone out on social media after the weekend to thank for the great support she still receives, despite the miscalculation at the World Cup.
“Thank you for continuing to keep your fingers crossed and support me. It’s been a tentative start to the season, so now I’m really looking forward to a Christmas break full of Christmas trees, Santa porridge and Donald Duck,” she writes on Instagram and gets more support:
“You are amazing. Fighting and toiling, you are doing a great job, keep up your positivity. And keep working on the track. Well worth your Christmas leave,” writes one user.
“In order to succeed, you have to dare to fail, new healthy ways Stina,” writes another.
