Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Ebba Andersson has been missing from the ski slopes lately.
Now the 25-year-old opens up about the tough time on the sidelines.
– It’s very sad. It has been tough sitting at home, she says in a TV interview with Viaplay.

It was the perfect start to the ski season Ebba Andersson. In the Norwegian ski queen’s absence, the Swede got off to a flying start and won already in the very first World Cup race in Ruka.

Andersson is missing

The 25-year-old left the Finnish premier weekend with double podiums and the following weekend also came with the season’s third podium in Lillehammer, Norway. But then the problems began for Ebba and she has since been missing from the ski tracks.

The cross-country skier tested positive for covid-19 and has had to sit out the World Cup competitions in December. Now she opens up and tells the truth about her health.
– Well, I’m fine, she says in a TV interview with Viaplay Vinter.
– For my part, the symptoms were milder, more like a common cold and not too aggressive. I’ve been fit and such but still had symptoms and therefore couldn’t train for a while. But once it let up, I was able to have some ice in my stomach and now I’m back to work. It feels good.

Ebba’s tough time

The latest news is that Ebba Andersson is away for another month from all competitions and therefore she is forced to decline the Tour de Ski.
– Now the plan is to step up the training gradually so that I can be back in normal training here until Christmas. To be able to cope with a training load that the body does not give up on. The plan was to run the Tour de Ski, but due to the covid disease, it was not at all relevant. So I’ve had to change my focus to a training period instead and then we’ll see when I can compete again, it will be sometime after the New Year, not before then, she says in the interview.

The big question now is when we can see her on the ski slopes again. She herself doesn’t want to stress anything, but still has a fairly clear goal for her comeback.
– A competition weekend that feels quite reasonable is the FIS competitions in Falun. But the body will be allowed to rule. I don’t feel any pressure towards the WC and I’m just trying to buy my time now, so the Tour de Ski feels like too much of a gamble. I want to have a good return and that the body is really in good condition when I start competing again, says Ebba to the TV channel, see the video below.

The time on the sidelines has not been easy for Ebba Andersson, who has had to fight to calm her competitive nerves. She admits that it hurt the most during the World Cup weekend in Beitostölen, Norway.
– It’s very sad. It was tough to sit at home and see the fine tracks in Beitostölen. It was cold weather, hard tracks and stuff that I love. It was actually a bit painful. But regardless, I took the bull by the horns and sat down to cheer on my teammates. But of course you get competitive, that’s how it is, she says, see the full interview below.
