GIMS. On the occasion of the election of Miss France 2023, the rapper Gims presents his song “Tomorrow”, in duet with Carla Bruni.
They are inseparable from the artist: since his beginnings, Gims has not taken off his dark glasses. Including on stage and during his television performances. But why does he never take them off? Certainly for image reasons, but also because her sunglasses “help her a lot” to conceal her anxieties. Having become his trademark, his glasses are for him “a security barrier, a camouflage”, he explained in 50 Minutes Inside in 2016. And to add: “Without them I would feel very bad. It would be impossible for me to approach a concert or the stage without.”
In December 2021, in the show seven to eight on TF1, Gims added: “I’ve had them for so long, I’ve done so many things with them that it would be crazy to take them off now. I’m scared. It scares me to take them off.” And these glasses are for the rapper the way to hide his identity, for more peace of mind away from the spotlight. “I can be asked to lift a truck, I will do everything for it, but there, taking off my glasses like that, I’m afraid”, concluded Gims in seven to eight.
