Historic snowfall has led to traffic chaos and canceled flights in Moscow.

In parts of the Russian capital, the snow piles are around 30 centimeters high, according to the weather institute Fobos.

The last time Moscow suffered similar snowfall in December was in 1989 and 1993.

  • Actor Anders Nyström dead

    The actor Anders Nyström is dead, TT reports.

    Anders Nystörm had his big breakthrough as a child, when he was in “The Children from Frostmofjället” in 1945.

    He was in several films as a child, but later made the leap to the theater stage. Among other things, he worked at the Riksteatern, Uppsala City Theater and Stockholm City Theatre.

    After that he came back to film, and television. Among other things, he appeared in “The Archipelago Doctor” and “Svenska hjärtan”.

    Anders Nyström was 89 years old.

  • Woman has fallen from apartment

    A woman in her 20s has been found on the ground outside an apartment in southern Stockholm.

    The woman has been transported by ambulance to hospital, the police report.

    – She must have fallen several floors. In my eyes, the woman’s condition looks surprisingly good. She was awake and talking when she was taken to hospital, says Mats Eriksson, the police’s press officer.

  • Traffic accident on bridge – one to hospital by helicopter

    A person in his 20s has been taken to hospital by ambulance helicopter after a traffic accident on the Farstabron in Värmdö municipality outside Stockholm, writes TT.

    In the capital, Kyiv, many have been without heat.

  • Several police officers dead after attack

  • New methane measurements at the Nord Stream leaks

  • Woman found dead outdoors – two arrested

    A woman in her 40s has been found dead outdoors in a community outside Sundsvall on Saturday evening.

    The police are investigating the incident as murder or manslaughter as there are unclear circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

    Two people, a woman and a man, have been arrested as suspects in the case.

    The man is reasonably suspected, which is the lower level of suspicion. The woman is suspected on probable grounds, i.e. the higher level of suspicion. They must be aged 50 to 55.

    The police do not want to say anything about whether or what relationship the three have had to each other.

    – A technical investigation has been carried out at the scene and interrogations are to be held with any witnesses and the suspects, says Maria Linné, press spokesperson for the police region North.

    The woman’s next of kin have been notified.
