This is compared to the 2022 license hunt, when the county board allowed nine lynxes to be killed.
The reason behind the county board’s decision is that during the inventory of the lynx it was seen that the number of animals has dropped from approx. 56 to 51 lynxes in the county or from 9.3 to 8.5 family groups (female with cubs).
In the whole of Sweden, there are approximately 1,440 lynxes, and this the county administrative board believes is still above the limit for favorable conservation status, which according to the county administrative board is 870 lynxes.
The lynx hunt begins on March 1 and ends on March 31.
