During the week, the employment agency released its report on how unemployment is believed to look like in the coming years.
In recent years, unemployment has fallen in Norrbotten. Now Per-Anders Ruona expects that it will stay at the same level, at least for the next two years.
– What we can see now is that unemployment will be around five percent in Norrbotten. That’s because quite a few will be retiring in the coming years. Therefore, the figure does not drop as it did in previous years.
Challenges remain
In line with the industrial boom, however, Norrbotten must grow, but high school studies are required for most professions. That is where the big problem is today, says Ruona.
– Most of the people who are connected with us today are those who do not have a high school qualification. Then it will be more difficult to get them into working life in the future. And when many people in the public sector will retire, replenishment is needed, he says.
In the clip you will hear about the future prospects on the labor market for Norrbotten.
