Avatar Way of Water review

We watched James Cameron’s Avatar 2 movie early. Let’s take a closer look at the movie released in our country as Avatar: The Way of Water.

The first Avatar movie was one of the productions that managed to leave its mark on the cinema industry. The sequel of the film, which reflects this success in the box office, is being screened exactly 13 years later. Like many of you, I loved the first movie. Although I personally regret that it was the movie that introduced 3D glasses to the industry, I have to say that at least I accepted that he used it properly. Let me note that I was a little startled when the attendant reminded me, “Don’t forget to take your glasses,” while I was sitting in my chair in the movie theater and waiting for the movie. I ran and got my glasses right away and even though I don’t like this glasses thing, let me admit in advance that the movie still uses the 3D thing properly.

Avatar: How was the Water’s Way?

The Avatar Water Way movie actually didn’t break the already working structure of the first movie in terms of operation. I can say that it has spread the story to a wider area with new characters on the same skeleton and new regions of Pandora. As you will remember in the first movie, humanity came to the Pandora gexegen and put great pressure on the local people to cite the resources there. Of course, we were witnessing how the story changed when Jack Sully, who had his brother’s DNA, joined the Avatar program.

When you get out of the first movie, I guess “How do you think the sequel will be?” If we were to ask, most of us would say that human beings will not give up this energy source easily. As a matter of fact, it is the same in the movie, while the story is told like a short summary in the first minutes, we witness that the Na’vi send the remaining people back to the world. Of course, these peaceful days come to an end with the floating ships appearing in the skies of Pandora again.

Ergen Na’vi is also not filmed at all

Of course, as we can see from the trailers, there is a long time jump between the first movie and the second movie. Here we see that the couple Jack Sully and Neytiri have children. In fact, the main story process is mostly told through the eyes of these children. These new characters are placed at the center of the event. While watching, we understand that puberty problems are not just a special situation for us. The young people of the Na’vi race are also trying to deal with puberty problems and put their parents in a difficult situation.

The fact that this disobedience is constantly experienced in the movie and that it continues until the last moment of the movie gave a little taste to it. Despite the constant “- Son, stay here – OK sir” dialogues in the movie, I frankly did not like the same problems that always occur. So I think it would be enough if this process was done a few times. They made a little fool of the audience on this one.

Despite the 190 minutes of the movie, the tempo does not go down much. Of course, as in the first movie, Pandora’s beautiful design has a large share in this. With the developing technology, James Cameron has managed to get the job done in underwater shooting, which is much more challenging. It is really enjoyable to see the underwater beauties of Pandora and to discover brand new regions.

You pay close attention to the film when you talk about underwater creatures, vegetation, and the magnificent visuals that emerge during the eclipse. So even if it shows the surroundings like a documentary, you continue to watch it with great pleasure. As I said, this process does not slow down the tempo at all, although there are similarities in the story of the movie. Cameron has managed to make Pandora feel like a breathing, living planet.

At the beginning of the movie, of course, we often see areas we are familiar with. However, most of the movie takes place in the settlement of the Metkayina tribe, that is, in the wetlands. At this point, you actually feel that the film is shaped on the social message phenomenon from the bottom up. Mankind’s pursuit of that inexhaustible source of energy, destroyed forests, and how we massacred underwater life this time is revealed through Pandora. Whaling was the most emphasized of these messages. After a certain point, you get attached to the movie just as the Na’vi are connected to mother nature. It is very important to protect that feeling despite the similar formula.

As I said, the tempo of the movie is shaped by children. Apart from the participation of new characters with the new region, this time a human child takes place in the middle of the events and adds a different flavor to the scenario. The character played by Stephen Lang is again busy triggering the action, as expected. The side characters are a little unbalanced.

Despite its long duration, you witness that some names are erased too much when there is a large number of characters. For example, before the shooting of the movie, I was very happy that Kate Winslet would be in the movie. But the character she played was so faded that when I saw her name in the Credits section, I thought, “Oh, there was Kate Winslet in this movie”.

Avatar: Way of Water review

Avatar: The Way of the Water builds on the already successful and box-office process and has managed to bring together new characters, regions and yet another high viewing pleasure. Since we know the main contents, it doesn’t leave as much of an impact as the first movie, but it makes you so attached to it that you get lost in the beautiful world of Pandora. I also liked that he added some mysteries for the sequel. But after the forest theme in the first movie and the water theme in the 2 movies, I wouldn’t want them to appear in a similar movie by saying “Let’s see the Na’vi living in the mountains”. I hope Cameron has some interesting ideas for sequels. As a result, I can say that it was a good box office movie that you will not get bored watching despite its long duration.
