A Windsor man wanted in a fatal shooting last month in the border city may be hiding out in London, Chatham or Sarnia, police say.
Windsor police obtained an arrest warrant for Malique Calloo, 26, on a charge of first-degree murder in the Nov. 28 death of Daniel Squalls, who was found shot in the 800-block of Hanna Street East in Windsor.
Investigators have received “credible information” that Calloo might be hiding with friends or family in Chatham, Sarnia, London, Hamilton, the Niagara Region or the Greater Toronto Area, Windsor police said Friday.
“We strongly urge anyone in these cities with any information about Malique Calloo to come forward and help us provide closure and justice for the victim’s family,” Staff Sgt. Joe Faddoul said in a statement.
Calloo is described as a black male, around six-foot-three, 245 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Last week, police arrested another suspect, Hussein Al Hayawi, 25, of Windsor, who is also charged with first-degree murder.
Investigators have called the fatal shooting “targeted” but haven’t said how Squalls was connected to his alleged killers.
Squalls was a devoted and loving father of a daughter and a stepdaughter, according to his obituary.
“He lived his life to the fullest and tried not to take anything too seriously,” the obituary says. “He was goofy and seemed to have jokes for days, always wanting to keep the mood light.
“Daniel’s heart was his biggest and best asset. The love, laughs, and life of Daniel will forever be missed by those who called him a son, brother, dad, or friend.”
