Mental illness can contribute to many not being able to keep their home clean. Auri Kananen from Finland, who worked at a cleaning company, was encouraged by her friends to upload short videos about cleaning on social media. Today, she has millions of followers and receives daily emails from people around the world who need help with their messy homes, often resulting from personal tragedies or mental illness. Now she is in Sweden. – Everyone struggles at some stage in their life. When I was younger I suffered from depression, so I know what it feels like when you’re not okay. When you’re sick, you don’t care if there’s trash on the floor. Sometimes you don’t want to live, so it doesn’t matter if your home is messy. A while ago, she was contacted by a woman from southern Stockholm, who lost control of her life and home after a family tragedy. – It was so nice. When I got here, the woman started crying. She couldn’t understand that I was here. We hugged, it was so nice. Her husband abused her so she miscarried. It was a sad story. Despite meeting people with a dark background, Auri still has a positive attitude and believes that cleaning can be the start of a better well-being. Watch the full feature in the player above.
