Russian robots have struck several Ukrainian cities on Friday morning, including in the capital Kyiv where heavy explosions are reported.
Air raid alarms sound over large parts of the country and residents are urged to seek shelter from a large and widespread attack.
At the same time, Russia is said to be preparing a new offensive in Ukraine. The Ukrainian defense minister says he has evidence that around 150,000 Russian troops are preparing for an attack, probably in February, The Guardian reports.
The minister believes that half of the approximately 300,000 soldiers who were mobilized during the autumn have been sent to Ukraine with minimal training. While the rest are now being prepared more carefully.
