During Friday, Jonna Sundling makes a comeback after her long illness absence.
A period that has been tough for the 27-year-old.
– It has been very stressful, both mentally and physically, says Sundling.
In the Scandinavian Cup in Östersund, it is finally time for a comeback for Jonna Sundling, who has not competed since the end of October due to a very prolonged cold. As she will not compete in the Tour de Ski, it will be something of a soft start before the WC in Slovenia, which starts in two months.
The way back
The period of illness has not been a bed of roses for Sundling, who says that it has been stressful both mentally and physically.
– Today I feel great, but I have had a period behind me that has been very tough. It was a whole month that I was unwell, says Jonna Sundling to DN.

In the meantime, she has missed the premiere in Bruksvallarna, and then missed World Cup competition after World Cup competition. The competitions in Ruka, Lillehammer, Beitostölen and Davos have had to be cancelled.
– It has been very stressful, both mentally and physically, says Sundling.

“Not good for the head”
Who is still determined to come back stronger, despite the long absence.
– Sitting still for so long is not good for the head, not good for the body and not good for performance. But of course it is possible to come back.
So far this season, Sundling has had to follow the World Cup competitions from the TV sofa.
– It feels like I’ve been on the wrong side of the screen.

The hard work on the mental side continues, and Sundling emphasizes that it is the WC in Planica, Slovenia that is the big focus.
– Actually, it feels like before every premiere, that you think “where do I stand?”. But then you also have to like the situation. It’s just accepting that this is my starting point and that I have to make the best of it. The WC in Planica is still the big thing and we haven’t passed that yet. It has not been destroyed.
