As expected, Avalanche Software had made an appointment with Harry Potter fans to discover a new livestream dedicated to Hogwarts Legacy and new gameplay passages that had not yet been revealed. A month after giving us details about life in Hogwarts, the combat system and the creation of its wizard, there was talk of exploring further. Especially with regard to the open world, its limits and its means of transport. There will be many of them, but of course, the first that comes to mind is necessarily the broom. As in books and movies, a wizard moves on his broom and the video game will not ignore it. Several types of brooms will also be offered and we can obviously make it evolve over the course of the adventure, so that we can move around Hogsmeade with great pleasure. The broom will not be the only way to fly, since the hippogriff can also gain altitude, in addition to being an animal that moves just as quickly on the ground.
It is also outside the castle that we will be able to make atypical encounters, in certain villages where wizards from other horizons will make us discover side quests, but not only. It is also in the remote corners that you can find special and unique objects, or better yet, increase your inventory. As the developers had already mentioned, Hogwarts Legacy will offer a real-time day / night cycle that will have an impact on the environment, with the added bonus of seasons that will radically change the scenery and the atmosphere in general. If the change of season will be seen outside, inside, occasional decorations linked to annual events will reinforce the passage of time. Another element that was quite detailed in the stream is the use of black magic, already mentioned a few months ago, but which we have seen in practice here.
By going deeper into the forbidden forest, we can access events that will allow the player to gain black magic skills. There will be challenges to complete, such as arena battles, and forbidden spells to learn if desired. It will even be possible to unlock ancient magic, which will also have its own gauge in its use. The developers of Avalanche have also given details on the Room of Requests, a fully customizable place, in which we will feel at home, with the possibility of placing furniture as we see fit. We can also take care of animals, concoct recipes and other elixirs thanks to the resources we find in the open world. In short, a gameplay that promises to be rich, varied and which promises a promising game.
The output of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is due out February 10, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, with other releases arriving later in the year.
