The two defendants were sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Eight people were found guilty of the July 2016 terrorist attack in Nice, southern France. The trial was decided in Paris on Tuesday.
86 people died and more than 200 were injured when one of the perpetrators drove a truck into a crowd on the waterfront. Driving the car Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel died after being shot by the police.
The main accused, 47 years old Mohamed Ghraieb and 43 years old Chokri Chafroud were both sentenced to 18 years in prison for belonging to a terrorist organization. According to the verdict, phone and text message records show that they knew about Lahouaiej-Bouhleli’s radicalization and intentions before the attack.
28 years old Ramzi Arefa was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He has admitted that he sold Lahouaiej-Bouhleli the pistol with which he fired at the police after the attack.
Five other defendants were sentenced to 2 to 5 years in prison.
