Analysts and fans have been skeptical of this for a while, and Tim Cook has finally admitted that Apple has been working with Sony for over a decade. Apple’s CEO has posted a photo of Sony’s CEO Kenichiro Yoshida showing him a Sony facility.
Apple isn’t talking much about battery, chip and display suppliers either, but supply chain analysts have revealed that Corning makes Apple’s front and rear glass sheets, while Samsung and LG supply most of the OLED panels. The chips come from TSMC’s factories, of course.
That said, the Sony-Apple deal for the camera hardware is still largely unconfirmed and apparently won’t expire anytime soon. According to some reports, Sony is working on a new sensor that uses semiconductor technologies to capture more light and reduce the possibility of under- or overexposure. Of course, this sensor will be used in the next generation of iPhones.
