When Sarah Sjöström is not there, it goes without saying that the Swedish team race team is decimated.
But it would still be fine.
Sara Junevik, who earlier on Tuesday had swum well individually, impressed in the first leg and ensured that Michelle Coleman got a good starting position.
Coleman and Louise Hansson swam well on the two subsequent legs and Sofia Åstedt on the last leg had to jump into the water in fourth place.
But until the top three, the distance was too far.
Sweden ended up fourth in 3.29.35, a little more than a second behind third-placed Canada.
— Incredibly fun that we as a team could make such a fine performance even though we don’t have our top team in place. A fourth place is fantastic, says Michelle Coleman.
Australia won in a world record time of 3.25.43. The USA was second.
