Region Uppsala is now urging parents to keep their babies at home due to the increase in the RS virus.
– Unlike covid or the flu, there is no vaccine against the RS virus, says the region’s infectious disease doctor Johan Nöjd to SVT Nyheter.
The recommendation also applies to older siblings who would otherwise be in preschool.
Nøjd writes in a press release that healthcare is very heavily burdened and that the RS virus can lead to severe breathing problems for children under six months.
