(Finance) – Rediscover art by transforming a journey, or waiting for departure, into a moment of cultural enrichment. The stopover of Fiumicino, main gateway to Italy, it represents a privileged showcase and Rome airports has been committed for years to presenting a new concept of airport: an innovative and sustainable hub, ever more vibrant and welcoming, which transforms itself from a non-place into a place, favoring art and culture. And this is precisely the logic behind the project “Travelling with Bernini” of the Cult buildings fund of the Ministry of the Interior to whom Rome airports he joined with conviction and enthusiasm.

Today, on the occasion of the presentation, the President of AdR will speak Claudius DeVincenti. The project represents a unreleased and traveling exhibition itinerary which – explains the note – will see the images of the 2023 calendar of the Fondo Edifici di Culto housed in the High Speed Halls of the main Italian stations and on board the trains of Trenitalia, la parent company of the Polo Passengeri del FS group. The protagonists of this edition are twelve masterpieces signed by the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini, one for each month of the year, now kept in the major ones Basilicas of Rome: from the Ecstasy of Santa Teresa, kept in the church of Santa Maria della Vittoria to The Angel with crown of thorns, exhibited in the church of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte al Daniele in the lions’ den in Santa Maria del Popolo to the Pair of fishermen on the dome in Sant’Andrea al Quirinale, up to the Salvator Mundi in San Sebastiano fuori le mura.

For some time now, the terminals of “Leonardo da Vinci” they transform into a real widespread museum to tell, enhance and activate, together with the communities that live there, the cultural heritage of specific geographical areas. An example are the two exhibition itineraries present in boarding areas A of Terminal 1 and E of Terminal 3 where it is possible to admire works from the Roman age, all from from the excavations of Ostia Antica and from the necropolis of Isola Sacra, thanks to the partnership with the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica. Furthermore, to support and enhance the creative talent of international artists and make the airport more and more a place of dialogue between art and the public, on the occasion of the five hundredth anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death (1519-2019), they have been selected, through an international tender, six contemporary artists to interpret through their works, exhibited in boarding area E, the very relationship between Leonardo and the journey.

With this logic, space has also been reserved for street art to celebrate the restart after the pandemic, giving visibility to the contemporary and innovative style of TV BOY which depicted Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa in summer clothes ready to take off, with trolley and mask at hand, to represent the desire for freedom, to travel, to reopen to cultural contamination. At the airport there is also a corner of contemporary art with a work by the artist Marco Lodola entitled “Deti”, which is inspired by the Cyrillic word “children” and which, with a reference to the conflict in Ukraine, aims to create a universal message of peace.

The goal – explains the note – “is to enrich the travel experience with the intrinsic quality of our territory, with culture, art and music to transform the airport also into a destination and not just a place A result achieved thanks to the passion and work of the community of people of Aeroporti di Roma which ensures that internationally recognized primacy on a daily basis”.
