Many viewers must have involuntarily squirmed in the RTL annual review “People, Pictures, Emotions” on December 11, 2022. Moderator Thomas Gottschalk made a debatable remark to Sarah Connor, who was connected by phone. The singer counterattacked on social media.
Sarah Connor rages against Thomas Gottschalk and RTL: “What was that just?”
Due to an illness, Connor was unexpectedly unable to take part in the annual review in person. In a telephone conversation during the show, Gottschalk commented on this with the sentence “[Ich habe nach der Absage zum Team gesagt:] It’s been a shitty year, though there is good news too. Sarah Connor is not coming.“
Connor accepted the statement, apparently meant as a rough joke, during the telephone connection without comment. Shortly thereafter, however, she held Gottschalk and RTL accountable via Instagram: “Ok, what was that?“, she asked in one story, below the hashtags “old white men“, “RTL you still have a lot to learn” and “I don’t have to put up with it“.
