Åkesson (SD) does not want to pursue policies that will meet the traffic target by 2030

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Traffic accounts for a third of Sweden’s emissions. The Riksdag has decided that these emissions must be reduced by 70 percent until 2030.

– I don’t mind if the targets are reached and we agree with the government on how it should be done. But it must not be overriding. Now we have put ourselves in a situation where people cannot afford to drive to work because fuel prices are so high, says Jimmie Åkesson.

“Major important political conflicts today”

The government is lowering the tax on fossil fuels and wants to reduce the mixing of biofuel to the EU’s minimum level by 2024 in order to bring down the price of petrol and diesel. The Center Party wants to see targeted support for those who live outside the big cities.

– It is possible to do this with a focus on those who need it the most, says Annie Lööf.

Jimmie Åkesson believes that the proposal is unrealistic.

– Should we invest in climate goals on paper or make an investment that will enable people to get their everyday life together regardless of where in the country you live? That is the great important political conflict today.

Annie Lööf replicates:

– The green transition for the countryside is being pushed aside. And the unexpected winner is Putin. It causes the climate and security policy to sway.

“Do what all the experts say”

The Green Party’s Per Bolund believes that the government’s policy leads to increased emissions and reduced opportunities to reach the climate goals.

– I want to congratulate Jimmie Åkesson for getting through the entire Sweden Democrats’ climate policy, which is no climate policy. This is a government that is doing the opposite of what all the experts are saying.

Ebba Busch (KD) does not share this picture, and points out that no ministries are closed.

– We do like your green colleagues in Germany. We combine environment, climate and the food industry.
