According to the website of the newspaper L’Equipe, Walter Bénéteau was found dead in Bali in circumstances for the time unknown. Having turned professional in 2000, this native of Les Essarts in Vendée ended his career in 2007, after wearing the colors of the Bonjour, Brioches La Boulangère and Bouygues Telecom teams. He has two victories in the Boucles de l’Aulne in 2000 and 2003 to his credit. He has taken part seven times in the Tour de France.
