From time to time, the agency carries out food basket surveys of foods that many people eat a lot of. This time, 100 kilos from 19 different food groups will be analysed.
“The 2022 food basket will, among other things, follow up if the trends from previous years continue,” says Helena Bjermo, risk and benefit assessor at the agency, in a press release.
The survey in 2015 showed, among other things, that the amount of harmful substances did not pose any risk to health, but also that things like lead and cadmium are not decreasing as quickly as is desirable, while at the same time that a necessary substance for us, iodine, has decreased sharply.
As eating habits change, some new foods are added to the survey. This year, among other things, vegetable drinks are brought along.
