With 86 World Cup victories and two Olympic gold medals under his belt, Ingemar Stenmark is one of our biggest sporting profiles of all time.
The legendary skier recalls his career in Nyhetsmorgon, and believes that today he finds it difficult to relate to it.
– It feels quite surreal that I have been skiing. The only connection to skiing I have today is that I still dream about it. Unpleasant dreams, about me missing the start and so on, says Ingemar Stenmark.
He describes the time in the spotlight as positive, but at the same time difficult, with a lot of nervousness before each competition.
– It felt like you wanted to throw up at the start every time. And it got worse every year. They realized that if you make a mistake, you’re gone, he says.
