Both Johanna Hagström and Maja Dahlqvist were already eliminated in the semi-finals – and Sweden thus lacked representation in the final.
Things went better for big rival Norway, which also took the opportunity to mock Sweden after the fiasco.
No, it really didn’t work out for Sweden in Friday’s sprint in the Norwegian Beitostölen. Ebba Andersson and Emma Ribom was absent due to illness, but it didn’t go any further for the Swedes who came to the start either. Frida Karlsson and Ingrid Hallquist already went out in the quarter-finals, and then it was up to Johanna Hagström and Maja Dahlqvist to take Sweden to the final.

However, Maja Dahlqvist was not as pleased after the sprint, and believes that Norway’s good result was due to the Swedes having a bad day.
– They may need us to have a bad day, so that they can deliver a little, says Dahlqvist.
