A 34-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to a theft complaint at a McNaughton Avenue East business on Nov. 16.

Police learned through investigation the accused allegedly stole $4,000 in tools as well as checks from the business.

A check was allegedly forged and attempted to be cashed at a local bank, police said.

The accused was located on Thursday and charged with theft, possession of stolen property, fraud and uttering forged documents, police said.

He was later released with conditions and a Jan. 16, 2023 short date.
