Germany: More arrests expected

On Wednesday, the German police arrested 25 people suspected of having planned a coup in Germany.
Several arrests are now to be expected, according to German authorities on Thursday.
Nineteen of those arrested are now in custody and investigators link the group to the far-right Reichsbürger movement, which wants to re-establish a German empire.

Swedish companies worried about the future
The outlook for the future has not been so dark in 14 years, according to the Swedish Business Association’s business panel. Around 5,000 companies, large and small, have answered questions about how they view sales, investments and the number of employees going forward, TT reports.
27 percent of respondents believe that sales will be lower. 35 percent think it will be unchanged, and 33 percent think they will sell more.
Not since 2008 have so many seen reduced sales volumes in front of them, writes TT.
One person died in a single-vehicle accident on the E22
A man has died as a result of a single-vehicle accident on E22 in Västervik municipality during the night, writes TT. The alarm about the accident came just before three in the morning.
– The car has driven off the road, says police spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg to TT.
The National Audit Office criticizes methods against train delays
The National Audit Office submitted an audit to the Riksdag on Thursday morning in which the Swedish Transport Administration’s methods to counteract train delays are severely criticized, writes Today’s news.
Among other things, it is highlighted that the money that could have been spent on track maintenance has instead gone to the administration of two systems that do not work.
The systems have existed for ten and almost five years respectively. But the punctuality of passenger trains is basically the same as 20 years ago. For high-speed and long-distance trains, it is worse than 20 years ago, the newspaper writes.
Västtrafik has disturbances in the app
Västtrafik announces on Thursday morning that there are disturbances in the app and that there are problems with getting the ticket system to work, writes Gothenburg Post.
It is not possible to buy or show tickets. All passengers travel for free for 30 minutes.
Right now there is no forecast for when the app will be up and running again.
Man executed in Iran – first since the protests
Iran has reportedly carried out the first official execution of a prisoner arrested during the ongoing anti-regime protests. This is reported by AP with reference to the Iranian news agency Mizan.
The man was convicted of blocking a street and attacking a member of the Iranian security forces.
The A-cash registers are up and running after the IT attack
A-kassar’s system was down for five days after a “cyber security incident” that occurred on Friday.
But since Wednesday evening, the systems should be up and running and it will be possible to report hours and get compensation paid, reports Today’s news.
Peru’s former president is in custody
Peru’s former president Pedro Castillo was ousted by parliament on Wednesday night and arrested.
Now he has been detained on suspicion of sedition for trying to override the constitution, reports CNN.
He is also accused of having attempted a coup d’état.
Swedish fighter jets get more take-off and landing sites
In the construction of the Swedish Armed Forces’ new air base system, Swedish fighter aircraft will receive more takeoff and landing sites, reports SR Ecot.
– We are building a more robust base system with the aim of being able to spread out and operate from many different locations and move over time, says Adam Nelson, head of F7, Skaraborg’s air fleet, to Ekot.
It is a capability that already exists, but is now being broadened to make the air force more mobile.
With the new air base system, the aircraft should be able to take off and land basically anywhere in the country by the air force driving out what is needed for take off and landing, to the current runway.
Scared off robbers with screams
At 01.53 the police received an alarm about a suspected robbery in the area around the Cathedral in Gothenburg.
Two unknown men in their 25s and 30s allegedly pulled a man down to the ground and tried to rob him. The man then screams loudly and scares the robbers away.
The police will search for the perpetrators with a dog during the night. No one has currently been arrested for the suspected robbery attempt.
Building permit for controversial coal mine
The British government has granted planning permission for a new coal mine in northern England – the first in three decades to be built in the UK, writes TT.
The project in Cumbria has been met with harsh criticism from environmentalists.
But supporters of the project instead hope for new jobs in the town of Whitehaven, which is next to the planned mine. Many also see benefits from a reduced need for imported coal.
According to the government, the coal from the mine must be used for steel production – not for coal-fired power. They also say they will stick to the commitment that dependence on coal power should be phased out by 2024.
The UK aims to be carbon neutral by 2050.
US state sues Tiktok
The chief prosecutor of the American state of Indiana, Todd Rokita, is suing the Chinese social media app Tiktok, writes TT.
The prosecutor states that although it is claimed that the app is safe for people over 13 years of age, the platform contains indecent and inappropriate material.
It is also believed that the app saves sensitive user data, but that users are deceived by claiming that this information is secure.
Tiktok is owned by Chinese Bytedance, whose headquarters moved to Singapore in 2020. The company has found itself in the crosshairs of, above all, Republicans in the US, who state that the Chinese state can gain access to Tiktok users’ search history, among other things.

Hi Pia! The police and prosecutors have announced that they will wait to say more about the case while the investigation is ongoing. Both women are still in custody and on December 15, prosecutor Adam Rullman is expected to request that they be re-arrested, if nothing else happens.
