The Royal Family are bracing for a potential backlash as the Harry and Meghan documentary comes out. King Charles III is said to be tired of these tensions while Prince William does not rule out responding to his brother.
The documentary Harry & Meghan had not yet been released and the royal family was already organizing a crisis meeting. What reaction can we expect from King Charles III and Prince William after the broadcast of the autobiographical mini-series produced by the Sussex couple, this Thursday, December 8, 2022? It is well known, the British monarchy never reacts hotly, but for the occasion and while the British press warns the Crown that it could live “its worst nightmare”, rapid reactions from active members of the royal family could occur. A crisis meeting has been held between King Charles III, Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton to anticipate a response to possible new accusations launched by Harry and Meghan in their documentary.
A possible statement from Prince William
Members of the royal family and/or their close advisers will be among the first viewers of the documentary “Harry & Meghan”. “The main aides to the Monarch, Prince and Princess of Wales plan to watch all three episodes in order to react quickly to any new accusations,” wrote the Mirror revealing a strategy designed to allow the royal family to respond quickly to the statements of Harry and Meghan Markle or to take up and denounce comments deemed false or misleading. Such a speech would be unusual and contrary to royal protocol, but on this subject Prince William said he was “tired” of the motto of the Windsors – “Never complain, never explain” – according to the same tabloid . So much so that he could express himself to demand that his brother withdraw certain remarks. King Charles III, in power for three months, would also be tired of the attacks launched against the Crown of England by his son and daughter-in-law. Especially since according to sources quoted by BFM TVthe royal family regrets and deplores the unpacking in public of the family quarrels when they say they have tried several times to ease tensions with Harry and Meghan, in vain.
Buckingham Palace under tension
The royal family has prepared its defence. But before speaking, she must read the content of the documentary mini-series Harry & Meghan. On this point, it is difficult to anticipate what might be said about the Crown. Experts like Marion Prudhomme, journalist at Point of view and questioned by The Parisian, consider it unlikely that Prince Harry or his wife would publicly criticize Queen Elizabeth II, who died three months to the day before the documentary aired on Netflix. “We can expect anything. We don’t know when it was shot, maybe when they got back to the UK, when the Queen died. […] What is certain is that in Buckingham, we must not be very relaxed“, she adds however.
