The group stage encounter at the Allianz Arena was just 3.29 minutes old when Klara Bühl made sure to make her birthday a little extra special.
She was first to the post from Sydney Lohmann and got the ball behind goalkeeper Sandra Panos via defender Irene Paredes.
A goal that saw the scenes of jubilation surprised Bühl – but the celebrations got the spectators going.
The dream start turned out to be just the beginning.
Six minutes later it was time for the home team again, this time it was Lina Magull who stayed ahead and extended Bayern Munich’s lead to 2-0 in the meeting with Swedish national team player Fridolina Rolfös Barcelona.
In the end it was 3–1, after a goal by Lea Schüller.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona have a grip on the quarter-final places with two rounds remaining. Three points behind are Benfica, who won 3–1 away against fellow club Rosengård.
It was also a dream start in London – thanks to Stina Blackstenius – when Arsenal won 1-0 against Italian Juventus.
The Swedish international shot deep, had time to look up and then placed the cross perfectly at the feet of Vivianne Meidema.
The Dutchman only needed to put his foot in there to score the winner in the 16th minute at the Emirates.
Arsenal top the group on 10 points ahead of Lyon, 7, and Juventus, 5.
