Gothenburgers woke up on Wednesday to a white city – and treacherously slippery road conditions. Already during the morning, several traffic accidents occurred that caused long queues, including on the E45 and E6.
Ahead of Thursday, SMHI has issued a snow warning for the southern half of Västra Götaland County and the northern part of Halland County.
From lunchtime on Thursday until Friday morning, streaks of snow flurries are expected, which in places can bring between 5 and 15 centimeters of snow in a short time. Exactly where the snowfall is expected to move in is uncertain.
– Heavy snow flurries can occur and make it difficult on the roads, says meteorologist Nitzan Cohen.
Can limit accessibility
There is also a snow warning in parts of Västerbotten County’s coastal area from Thursday morning. Heavy snowfall is expected during the morning, a total of 10–15 centimeters during the day, which may lead to limited access on the roads. The snowfall is expected to decrease towards Friday.
In the rest of the country, snow is also expected in several places. In central Norrland there will be some snowfall, especially over Jämtland. Snow is also expected in Lapland. In these areas, SMHI has not issued any warning.
