Tributes to Börje Salming continue to be numerous.
Now goalkeeper Erik Källgren has also chosen to pay tribute to the icon.
This by depicting him on his goalkeeper mask.
On November 24, Börje Salming passed away in the suites after the disease ALS. Since then, the tributes have poured in from all over the world – and they continue to do so.
“Has been an honor”
Erik Källgren, 26, belongs to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization in the NHL, where Börje Salming is known to be one of the absolute greatest players of all time. It is the AHL team Toronto Marlies that shared a picture of the helmet on their social channels, a helmet that Källgren – who played 10 games for the “Leafs” in the NHL this season – will play in.

The creator of the helmet is named David Gunnarsson, or “Daveart” as he calls himself on Instagram. He has published a picture of the helmet on his social media with the text:
“It has been an honor to paint this and do it as a tribute to ‘The King,'” he writes.

The tribute is praised
The tribute has caused many in turn to praise the initiative that David Gunnarsson, Erik Källgren and Toronto have taken.
“A fantastic tribute to Börje”, writes a user on Instagram.
“I love the helmet! I’m sure Börje would have done it too,” writes another.
“It’s really incredible,” says a third.
