What was supposed to be a good meal ended in total anger and disappointment. After a few bites into the quick-cooked chicken burger saw Johan the cut color of the chicken burger and feared that he had eaten raw meat and that he would get sick.
The fears that the burger might instead have been cooked too quickly scared Johan.
“This is the worst thing I’ve been through, how can this happen? I’m so incredibly pissed off. Should you have to get salmonella because one of Sweden’s largest restaurants can’t handle chicken?!”, writes Johan in a message to the food giant’s customer service.
The meat must have been affected by the marinade
Immediately after Johan saw the not-so-appetizing meat, he contacted the hamburger chain’s customer service. But after several contact attempts with Max and a long response time in between, Johan believes that his case about what he actually ate, raw meat or not, has been overlooked.
In an email from Max to Johan, it is said that they “had a problem with the supplier where the color of the meat has been greatly affected by the marinade, which contains red jalapeño”.
Employees have commented on the pink meat
Responsible customer contact writes that several employees have also seen the pink meat and felt that the chicken burger is not cooked. But instead, they mean that the burger should not be raw because the chicken is fried before serving, which means that the meat is cooked through.
— What we can inform you about is that all chicken that Max serves is fully cooked to over 80 degrees already at the supplier and checks are done regularly. At our restaurants, the chicken is then cooked to a core temperature of at least 72 degrees, writes a press contact at Max News24.
