A man suffered critical injuries in an assault at a Market Street residence in Brantford on Sunday morning, say police.

Brantford police officers and paramedics responded to the residence at about 8:30 am where they located a 68-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital where he is listed in critical condition, said police.

Police say they do not believe this is a random incident. No arrests have been made.

The Brantford Police Service Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section are overseeing the investigation.
