The war in Ukraine not only marks the violation of the borders of a sovereign state, the return of a high-intensity war on European territory, it also marks the return of the nuclear threat. Driven by Moscow, which is accused by the West of having an irresponsible approach.
Nuclear deterrence is therefore making a comeback. Should Russian threats be taken literally, what are the red lines posed by Vladimir Putin, and how are Europe and NATO positioning themselves to respond to him?
Can France, now the only nuclear power in the European Union, protect its neighbors and how?
