Smoke alarm in central Stockholm
The emergency services were called at 01:35 to a building on Sveavägen by Tunnelgatan in central Stockholm. A caller thought he saw smoke coming from the roof, but half an hour after the alarm, no fire has been detected.
– We investigate for full mugs, but find no smoke or fire. Now the police will go to the home of the person who raised the alarm. She says she still sees smoke over the roof ridges. It may be a weather phenomenon, but we continue to investigate the matter, says Tommy Wållberg, commanding officer at the rescue service.

Israel bombed Gaza
During the night of Sunday, Israeli bombers carried out several attacks in Gaza.
According to Israel’s military, the raid was aimed at, among other things, a weapons factory and a tunnel controlled by Hamas.
On Saturday, a rocket was fired from Gaza and landed in a field in southern Israel.
The bombings were followed by air strikes across southern Israel for fear of new rockets, writes Haaretz.
Macron opens up to guarantees for Putin
In an interview with the French TV channel TF1 on Saturday, President Emmanuel Macron appeared open to concessions towards Russia.
Macron said according to Reuters that Europe must prepare for what a future security structure will look like.

Building a new nuclear power plant
Iran has started building a new nuclear power plant, according to the country’s atomic energy authority, writes TT.
It is being built in the province of Khuzestan in southwestern Iran and should be completed in eight years.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after Iran stated that it has now enriched uranium up to 60 percent.

Deputy Governor of the Riksbank Anna Breman believes that the worst of inflation may be behind us.
– I think we are back to around two percent around the turn of the year to 2024, says Deputy Governor of the Riksbank Anna Breman in SVT’s Economic Agency.
But she says that it can change quickly in a troubled environment and it can have an impact on the Swedish economy.

Thousands of passports left with the police: “Can be destroyed”
After the summer passport chaos, the police have new worries.
172,000 passports have not been retrieved, and now the police have had enough, reports SVT.

Ten thousand police surround criminal gangs
The government of El Salvador is trying to stop the criminal gangs’ control over the suburb of Soyapango in the capital San Salvador and ordered ten thousand police officers to surround the area on Saturday night, writes TT.
“As of now, Soyapango is completely circumscribed,” President Nayib Bukele wrote on social media.
El Salvador has been fighting the gangs intensively for nine months and so far 58,000 people have been arrested, but has been criticized for, among other things, brutality and summary arrests.

Monster wave kills woman on cruise
One woman died and four were injured when a monster wave hit a cruise ship last week, reports say CNN.
The passengers on the ship Viking Polaris were on a cruise to Antarctica when it blew up into a severe storm off Argentina.
The storm caused a so-called monster wave that broke several of the ship’s windows. The broken glass hit an American woman who died. Four people have received injuries that are not life-threatening.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that a woman has died as a result of the incident,” writes Viking Cruises.
Man stabbed in stairwell
A man has been stabbed in a stairwell in Bandhagen in southern Stockholm.
The man was taken by ambulance to hospital and is said to have been able to speak, according to the police.
There is no information on whether anyone has been arrested. A preliminary investigation into serious assault has been launched.
Former intelligence chief arrested – suspected of cover-up murder
The former head of South Korea’s security service, Suh Hoon, has been arrested on suspicion of helping to cover up the murder of a high-ranking official in the South Korean fishing industry.
The murder must have taken place on the border with North Korea, writes TT.
He is accused of destroying intelligence reports about the officer’s murder.
President remains in office despite ‘serious violations’

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa does not intend to resign even though he may face impeachment.
The background is a theft of money hidden in a sofa in a house belonging to the president. The money must have been a payment for buffaloes that he sold, writes TT.
A parliamentary committee investigating the case has concluded that Ramaphosa was guilty of “serious violations” of the constitution and the country’s corruption laws.
The ruling ANC party, to which Ramaphosa belongs, has held a crisis meeting about the allegations.
– President Ramaphosa is not resigning because of a flawed report, announced spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, according to TT.
Man stabbed on tram
A man has been stabbed on a tram in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg, reports Gothenburg Post.
The suspects fled the scene while the victim was taken to hospital, according to the newspaper.
The man who was stabbed is known to the police from before, but it is not known if the incident has connections to the gang environment.
– It’s probably not completely clear yet, says duty officer Johan Ljung to GP.
The man is said to have been seriously injured, but not life-threatening, according to the police.

What we do know is that the incident being investigated is about a fight between two people in connection with a polling station. The suspect is said to have threatened the other person to vote a certain way.
