A top prosecutor in Iran states, according to the state news agency Irna, that authorities have shut down Iran’s morality police, without going into further details.
Iran has been rocked by widespread protests for months, since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Zhina Amini in the custody of the notorious force in September.
The moral police is a unit within the police responsible for enforcing the country’s dress code, where women must cover their hair and wear loose-fitting clothes, according to DW.
