Tyson Fury dominated the fight from the start and Derek Chisora never stood a chance against Fury’s superior reach and size.
Despite Fury’s large advantage and despite Chisora taking a lot of beating, and already in round seven barely able to see because his eyes were swollen again, the referee did not stop the bout until 10 seconds remained in round 10.
With the win, 34-year-old Tyson Fury retains the WBC belt and remains undefeated. He made his professional debut as a 20-year-old in 2008 and has played 34 games, of which he won 33 and one ended in a draw.
After the match, Fury paid tribute to the crowd and his opponent.
— What a damn crowd! You are fantastic. I am at a loss for words, he said.
— And Chisora … what a warrior! What a hero!
Tyson Fury has previously set his sights on a match against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO world championship belts. And that idea was given new life after Saturday’s victory.
Usyk was present during the match and immediately after the victory, Fury called the Ukrainian down to the ring and challenged him.
— Usyk, you’re next in line, said the WBC champion and also added a series of insults aimed at the potential future opponent.
