Former ABBA legend Bear Ulvaeus visited Nyhetsmorgon on Saturday and received the news during his interview that his colleague had passed away.
– I knew him well, so it is very heavy. I had no idea he was bad, he says in the program. He had an incredible “impact” during the 60s for a while. He was without competition the most popular pop figure, says Björn.
According to him, Sven was always humble, and never let celebrity get to his head.
– He was my friend and colleague for 54 years. Everything has gone so fast, it’s hard to gather my thoughts and say how I will remember Svenne. But he was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, he says in News morning.
Who is Svenne Hedlund?
Sven Ove “Svenne” Hedlund was born in 1945 in Solna.
Worked as a bus conductor before breaking through as a singer in the Hep Stars in the 1960s.
Formed the duo Svenne & Lotta together with his wife Charlotte Walker, who has the stage name Lotta Hedlund and to whom he was married until 2014. Competed in the Melodifestivalen in 1975 with “Bang en boomerang” and in 2000 with “Bara du och jag”.
From 2005, Svenne Hedlund also did shows together with The Cadillac Band, where he played Elvis songs, among other things.
